Summer is almost coming to an end, 4 more weeks until I officially have a 3rd grader and a Kindergartener. Summer “09″ is shaping up to be pretty memorable, good and bad. Ryan has been up in Seattle during the week and home on the weekends. That is going okay but we will all be happy when he is back home working in portland. Kylee turned 8! She had a Crazy mad science kid party followed by a little girl sleep over! That was crazy! Olivia will be 5 right after school starts. They will both be back to school soon! Thought that I was pregnant again when I was 10 days late! Thank goodness that was a false alarm, let’s just say that I am being a very strict gatekeeper these days. If you don’t have the backstage pass, your not getting through! My sister, Haili, got marrried.
The bad is that Ryan’s grandpa passed away this weekend. He was 83 years old. He was always kind and the girls really loved him. It makes you think about your own life and how you live it. The last time we saw him was on father’s day. He was conning the girls into giving him a hug and kiss. Of course, they always did after some convincing. If they refused he said, “The only reason I came here was to get a hug from you and now your not going to give me one?” Then he would act sad and they would cave, giving him huge hugs and kisses. I think the one thing I think of when I think of “Grandpa Great” is that he was unconditional. He loved you no matter what. When most would judge and shame, he would accept and offer help. I’ve known him for the last 15 years and I had to sit on his lap for most of those years to get my christmas stocking. Grandpa Great, you will be missed!

The Hills has to be the stupidest show I have ever seen. Technically I haven’t even been able to last a full episode. I can’t believe that these people have a television show. It is soooo bad that I had to make sure that I was alone because I felt embarrassed that I was even watching it. Oh man, it’s terrible! No wonder other countries hate America, if they think that The Hills is an accurate depiction of what our country is about.

Oh yeah, and some Vampires

DarthVader and some chick dressed in white who is NOT princess leia!

The girls and I went back up to Seattle with Ryan last Sunday night. We stayed until Wednesday afternoon. We were able to walk around the city and do some fun stuff. We went down to the pier and found the Seattle Aquarium. A hefty fee to enter, but what the hell, it’s all in the name of childhood memories.

They had a really good time and after the aquarium we went up to the market and got coffee and cocoa @ the original Pike St. Starbucks. That was fun for me but that’s only because I am cheesy and like that kind of crap.

So there are no Redboxes in Seattle. The closest one is on Mercer Island. We went ahead and drove there to get a few movies and will just take them home and return them there. For those of you who do not know about Redbox, it’s a brilliant invention that lets you rent a movie for $1.00 per night (in Washington it’s $1.09 with tax) and you can return the dvd to any other redbox location, no matter where you got it. It works out very well for the kids while traveling. It is pretty neat. You can also go online and check which movies are available at any specific location near you and reserve it so that you can be sure that the movie you want will be there.
